A REASON FOR IT ALL
(Eric Bogle)
Summer smiling on the city, it's another lovely day in Sydney
Sunshine pouring down like honey in a golden water fall
But in the room where Claire is dying, no sunshine sends the shadows flying
No children gather round her crying there's no one there at all
Except perhaps for the man who sees each little sparrow fall
Don't talk to me 'bout lonely souls crying
Dark quiet rooms and old people dying
I don't want to hear, I don't want to hear it at all
Tired old people die alone every day
Don't blame me I didn't make it that way
That's just how it is don't look for no reason at all
Winter weepin' on the city a wet and windy day in Sydney
Raindrops fallin' fat and heavy down Claire's window pane
Disturbs the rats as they are feedin', back to their nest they all go creepin'
Leavin' Claire alone again . . . it's been a long and lonely time since Claire could hear the rain
Don't talk to me about the meaning of
Don't sing your songs that cut like a knife
I don't want to hear, I don't want to hear it at all
Lonely old people ain't my concern
From dust we come, to dust we return
And that's all there is, don't look for a reason for it all
Springtime's come at last to Sydney the flowers are bloomin' in the city
In all their multi-colored glory they rise to meet the year
Memories in shame recallin' footsteps on the front porch fallin'
Voices through the window callin' "Is anybody there?"
Claire Campbell's lost and lonely soul is a long, long way from here
Don't talk to me about life's seasons
Don't ask me for answers, don't ask me for reasons
I don't want to hear, I don't want to hear it at all
From the moment we're born we start to die
And a man can go crazy if he keeps askin' why
That's just how it is; don't look for a reason for it all
Can't you understand what I'm tryin' to say
There must be a reason, there must be a way
To make some sense of it, to try to find a reason for it all
We're not born just so we can die
There must be an answer, and we've got to try
To make some sense of it, to try to find a reason for it all

Deva Premal and Miten in Melbourne - promoted by Chris Hooper
Trails of Light - illustrating how much beauty, light and goodness a tiny group of people
can, and do, create. At the recent Deva Premal and Miten concerts in OZ and NZ they asked members of the audience
if they'd like to contribute a gold coin for Haiti. I held the Donation Box in Melbourne and people were generously
putting in a great deal of folding money as well as gold coins.
$7,470.65 was raised during this tour and 100% goes to Haiti.
20 orphans who lost their orphanage and the adults who were caring for them.
We have one person on the ground doing their best to keep them alive until we
can rebuild and get more caretakers and supplies to them.
We have a doctor, two builders, a nurse, and a man who makes prosthetic body
parts on our team, among several other wonderful people who have been helping
in Haiti, as well as me helping to coordinate the efforts and I will also help with
the long term set up of care and education for the children.'... Heather
Deva Premal ~ The Voice of an Archangel
Over the last few years the heavenly voice of Deva Premal has frequently filled my home via my sound system. I've also had the great pleasure of hearing Deva and her partner Miten in concert ~ so if they are performing in your area I urge you to go and see them.... the memories linger. Their official website is here and there are loads of goodies including samples of their music, a newsletter and a calendar of very interesting events indeed. Recently my sister Chris and I shared a scrumptious breakfast with Deva and Miten and at one stage the conversation turned to orbs and what they're all about Alfie... so it was fabulous to receive this photo from Deva to share with you all. My instinct is that the orb is the essence of her sublime voice.
